Hindrances to the Kingdom of God
Proverbs . 22:1-16

“A good name is more desirable than great riches, to be esteemed is better than silver or gold” Prov.22:1
It is said to be in 10th century B.C. that Solomon lived who is the author of many of the proverbs. Though all the proverbs are not found in the current Bible it is learned that he wrote 3000 of them. The essence of the book of proverbs is the teaching of moral and ethical principles. The peculiarity of this book is that it is largely given over to teaching by contrasts but the view point fairly consistent.
In proverbs chapter 22, Solomon is contrasting wisdom and folly. It is moral Wisdom versus Sin. A good name is not just reputation, which may not truly fit the man or the woman, But is rather character, which is what he or she is. A Bad man or woman may maintain a good reputation for a time, but eventually his or her character will be known. Good character is better than riches, because it’s foundation, innocence, purpose, or reason behind all will be pleasing to our Lord Jesus Christ. You could not hide a good character, people around will be able to understand, absorb and even to follow it. We, many times, are prone to admire rich people, High society, even beautiful looks. We also are tempted to be their friends. We do read in scripture that “God made them all”. God intends us to walk in righteousness, understanding and His instructions. Luke 16:19-31 we read rich man and Lazarus’s story, Lazarus who ate what fell from rich man’s table got carried to heaven, seated with Abraham. While rich man ended up in torment in hell. Only  when we  believe in Jesus the Christ our Saviour, do Gods blessed will, love our neighbor as we love ourselves whether he is rich or poor we get to be destined to the house of the righteous where  there is much treasure, know that  in the revenue of the wicked is trouble. As in Prov.15:6 let us have the mind of the woman who broke an alabaster flask of very costly oil of spikenard who did a great job anointing Jesus. As she got criticized by on lookers “why was this fragrant oil wasted” Jesus replied” let her be alone, why do you trouble her she has done a good work for me, what this woman has done will be also be told as a memorial  to her since she has done this beforehand to anoint my body for burial”.
Let us come to the feet of Jesus just as we are. Your name is written in the palm of His hand. He carries you in His mighty arms.

Prayer: Heavenly father we praise your name .Give us divine wisdom to follow you for ever .Amen.

Thought for the day:   To follow the wealth of this world will be foolish but to follow the richness of God’s love and mercy give you everlasting joy.
