Revelations 3: 14-22
I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either
one or the other! (Rev.3: 15)
We are so blessed to have a Father who loves
us so much that He would sacrifice His one and only Son for our sins. We are
sinful beings and still God loves us so much. And what does God expect from
us? All that God wants from us is to obey him, by living a Christ centered
life and to have an intimate relationship with Him. He cherishes each and
every moment that we spend with Him. In verse 15-16 you see the words “I know
your deeds you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!
So because you are lukewarm-neither hot nor cold- I am about to spit you out
of my mouth”. God doesn’t want a half-hearted relationship with us. He wants
and deserves so much more; He wants us to be on fire for Him!
In everything we do, may we pause… and be in
absolute awe of our GOD! He is the Lord who put the stars in their place, and
still takes time to know us each by name. From the moment we wake up to the
moment we go to sleep we should be one with God. In addition, we should be
diving into His Word and finding more about who He is and understanding His
will in our lives.
I know personally that I have had moments
where I’m in a dull relationship with God, where I just don’t feel like
praying or reading. I focus my attention on what is in my power of control.
The danger in this is like the members of the Church of Laodicea, you become
apathetic and more vulnerable to the evils of this world. We are constantly
striving to fulfill our need of more material items, which causes us to lose
sight of the numerous blessings that our Father has provided us with. Our eyes
become fixed on fulfilling a desire that will never be quenched. This is what
lukewarm is and this is what God spews from His mouth! Instead, we should take
every moment to delight in the Lord and the riches of His love and allow him
into the innermost parts of our heart.
Prayer: Lord, I pray that I may be refined in the fire, and become rich in You! May my heart’s desire be to want a continuous and fruitful relationship with You. Amen.
