TERRIFIED, YET MIGHTY

Judges 6:11-16
The angel of the Lord appeared to him and said to him, "The Lord is with you, you mighty warrior." (Judges 6:12)

The passage illustrates the call of Gideon as the judge of Israel. The angel appeared and spoke to Gideon at Ophrah under the Oak. Gideon was beating out wheat in the wine press to hide it from the Midianites assuming that the Midianites will not come to the place of wine press because that was not the season of grapes.
Now the angel addressed him as a mighty warrior. Gideon was not a mighty warrior but was a terrified normal human being. That is why he was beating the wheat at the wine press in order to save that from their enemies. In Gideon's attitude of mind a human observer would have seen nothing but weakness, and yet God saw "might." The Divine eye penetrated to the very depths of Gideon's spirit and character, and saw in his seeming weakness the very qualities out of which spiritual heroes are made. God always has a different way of selecting people for his mission and that is entirely different from the human ways. God can turn a terrified person to a mighty warrior. God reminded him about his ability to deliver the people of Israel from the hands of the enemies. God guaranteed two things to Gideon when he goes out to save his people. God assures His might and His presence to Gideon. Every Christian should believe in this promise of God then we will be able to transform the terrified and pathetic situations of life. God’s presence and His might are always with us to overcome all difficult life situations.

We may be persons who live with different disabilities and weaknesses but our God is God who accepts every one of us as we are and transforms us when we submit to his hands. Gideon became a mighty warrior in the hands of God and he became a great leader. So let us submit ourselves into His hands with all our weaknesses and disabilities. God will transform that to his Glory and for our blessing. God’s might transforms human weaknesses

Prayer: Mighty God we accept that we are weak and powerless but we know that you might and your presence can transform all our weaknesses. In Jesus name Amen.

PRIESTHOOD: THE ANOINTED MINISTRY Exodus 40:12-16 Bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting... wash them with water. Then dress Aaron in the sacred garments, anoint him and consecrate him so he may serve me as priest (Exodus 40: 12-13). Priesthood among the people of God was a divine command and initiation. God wanted some people to be separated for the special ministry among his people. God appointed Aaron and his descendants to take up this kind of ministry among the people of God.
