The Living word as Judge and comforter

Bible Reading: ::  Hebrews  4 :12-14

Key verse

Bible Verse::Vs 12  For the word of God is alive and active sharper than any double edged sword.

DEVOTION

The inner life of a Christian is often a mixture of genuinely spiritual and completely human motivations. Only a supernaturally discerning agent such as the word of God can only sort out what is of the flesh and what is of the spirit. The word of God reaches where no human word can reach, it can penetrate into areas where we often hide or do not understand. It moves, comforts, searches and lives in our hearts. The word can distinguish what is right and wrong and reveals to us the sinful, unhealthy thoughts that arises and born in us. It often triggers our conscience and act as a judge to prevent us from corrupt thinking and actions. This kind of judgement often take us to the truth and frees us from falling into the crevasses of sin.
The Word also acts as a comforter. It guides our steps and lights our way.  It is our refuge and shelter in times of need and despair. The word is eternal and  it stands firm in the heavens. Psalmist says if your law and word  was not my delight he could have perished in the afflictions of life.it gives us hope and preserves our life daily. Jesus the eternal word made flesh is not only the one who knows everything in detail about us  but is the one who carries our weakness, knows and empathize with our struggles and intercedes for us before the father. In John’s gospel we read the word became flesh and lives with us for ever. He is our judge and advocate and is our great healer. There is no wound he cannot heal or any sin that he cannot wipe out.
Let us firmly hold to this word, making it our anchor and relying on His righteousness and grace.  He searches for us, ready to  clean us and purify us if we are ready and go to Him with a contrite heart and eagerness to accept him. He is always ready to accept us and save us and let thus be our hope in this world

PRAYER

Lord thank you for your living and active word. Comfort us with the assurance that Jesus our high priest understands our weakness and carries our burdens to the end. Help us to hold on to your word firmly and delve into the depths of it that we can understand and modify our lives to suit your standards. Amen.

Thought for the DAY
