Extending God’s embrace

Bible Reading:   Isaiah 49:1-6

Key verse:  

Vs1 Before I was born the Lord called me from my mother’s womb he has spoken my name. Vs6  I will also make you a light for the gentiles that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.

DEVOTION

The greatness and glory of Jesus is meant to spread to every corner of the globe. God is saying the prophet that He has seen him even when he was in the mother’s womb and God has a purpose for each one of us in this world. We are ambassadors of Christ to spread the gospel to the ends of the world and that is a commandment we have to obey. Lord has promised also that He will be with us to the end of the world and he wants us to be bold and courageous  for the word. Apostle Paul was consumed by a desire to share the good news of Christ with as many people as people  and he extended his ministry greatly among the gentiles. Paul also has burden to preach the gospel where it has never reached so far . Paul remained steadfast in his commitment to preach Christ where there was no churches and the message of the gospel captivated him to sacrifice his own safety in his endeavor to spread it. We must be ready always  to worship beyond our comfort zones and  familiar places and shall be on the look out for new avenues.
From the beginning of creation through out the redemptive history God was using people to talk about sin and the law and this is evident from what we see in todays meditation .When God chose Abraham as the father of  his people   God wants Abraham to be a blessing for all the generations. God’s intent was fulfilled completely through the ministry of Jesus who commissioned his followers to move past the traditional boundary lines of culture and bring the message of salvation to the furthest corners of the globe. We are by God’s grace enlightened, awakened from the darkness and shifted our path from death and blindness to life and light,  This beautiful gift God gave us is not meant to benefit only our kith and kin alone but the whole world  where many are thirsting for the gospel.
 

PRAYER

Lord your commission to us is great and challenging. Allow us to personally embrace your call  and beginning where we are strengthen us and empower us to  carry the gospel with power and clarity to the ends of the earth. Amen.

PRIESTHOOD: THE ANOINTED MINISTRY Exodus 40:12-16 Bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting... wash them with water. Then dress Aaron in the sacred garments, anoint him and consecrate him so he may serve me as priest (Exodus 40: 12-13). Priesthood among the people of God was a divine command and initiation. God wanted some people to be separated for the special ministry among his people. God appointed Aaron and his descendants to take up this kind of ministry among the people of God.
