Wisdom leads to Godly Understanding

Bible Reading:   Proverbs 8: 1-14

Key verse:  “To you, O people, I call out; I raise my voice to all mankind.” Proverbs 8:4

DEVOTION

Proverbs 8 presents wisdom as a living voice, calling out to all humanity from the heights and the crossroads, and the city gates. It is not hidden or exclusive- God’s wisdom is made available to everyone who is willing to listen.
In verse 4, Wisdom says, “To you, O people, I call out,” reminding us that God actively reaches out to us with truth and understanding. This isn’t a passive invitation; it is an urgent plea to embrace what is right, prudent, and just. Verses 6-9 continue to describe Wisdom’s words as truthful, righteous, and noble – offering insight more noble than silver or gold.
This wisdom is not man-made. It reflects God’s heart. When we walk in it, we walk in truth and avoid the traps of pride, arrogance, and evil behavior. But like any call, it demands a response. Wisdom offers her voice, but we must choose to listen. We must pause in the rush of life, quiet the competing voices, and allow her words to shape our thoughts and choices.

PRAYER

Lord, thank You that Your wisdom is not distant, but calling out to me daily. Teach me to listen. Help me to tune my heart to Your voice above all others. Let me walk in understanding, speak with integrity, and choose what is right in every season. In Jesus name, Amen.
