Communion with Risen Lord in Daily Life
Psalm 23
Monsy Mathew
MTC of New Jersey, Randolph, NJ.
Surely goodness and mercy[f] shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord my whole life long.
Psalm 23 is often read at the time of sorrow, fear, disappointments and hopelessness. Most of us know this Psalm by heart, but the psalmist David knows the LORD as his Good Shepherd. “David was a shepherd, and he has the Testimony, that it was the LORD who helped David to protect his sheep. He chased the bear and the lion, and snatched his sheep from their mouths. David's Testimony of faith allowed King Saul to believe that a shepherd boy can fight with Goliath” (1 Samuel 17:34-37). If God is with us, who can stand against us ?
The Bible says, without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). Faith and obedience to the Word of God is a “must” to please God. David was a mighty man of faith, prayers, he was filled with gratitude to God and He delighted himself in the LORD. He sought for the will of God, and he obeyed what God said to him. Acts 13:22 says, God testified concerning him: I have found David son of Jesse, a man after My Own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.
“Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. —Romans 10:17. As our body needs food to survive, our spirit also needs the Word of God to survive. We should Pray daily for our daily bread. “Jesus Christ said, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. —Matthew 4:4
Our relationship with Jesus Christ is like of a sheep and the shepherd. Sheep listens to the voice of their Shepherd and the Shepherd knows His sheep, and He protects and takes care of His sheep and their needs. There must be a tuning between a sheep and the Shepherd. Jesus Christ said, My sheep listen to My voice; I know them, and they follow Me. —John 10:27
PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father, Help us to discern and obey the voice of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, our Good Shepherd and follow Him. In Jesus name we pray, Amen
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. —Romans 10:9-10
