Creation Speaks of God
Bible Reading: : Job 12: 7-12
Key verse: 9-10
"Which of all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.” Job12: 9-10
DEVOTION
The Book of Job presents a righteous man who honors God and seeks to obey His commandments. Yet when disaster strikes, Job is overwhelmed by suffering, struggling with doubt, agony, and unanswered questions. In the midst of his despair, he turns his attention to the natural world, where he begins to perceive the presence of God. Though invisible, God reveals His goodness through creation. Everything He has made—whether creatures with fur, feathers, or scales—bears witness to His glory and majesty.
Through the wonders of nature, God reminds Job of His sovereignty. The lioness, the mountain goat, and even the rooster testify to God’s intimate knowledge and control over all life. These examples reveal that human understanding is limited and that God’s governance extends over every part of creation. Rather than offering simple answers, God reveals His greatness, calling Job to trust His wisdom even when life feels incomprehensible.
In response, Job acknowledges that God is in control and affirms that His hand remains steady even when life is shaken. He begins to understand that questioning God’s authority gives way to humble trust in His sovereign will.
Job also reflects on wisdom and discernment, comparing them to the sense of taste. Just as the palate learns to distinguish between what is nourishing and what is bitter, so the spiritually mature person learns to discern what is life-giving and what is harmful. Closer communion with God refines this sensitivity.
In a noisy world filled with competing voices and opinions, believers are called to seek God’s wisdom above all. A meaningful Christian life is shaped not by human counsel, but by steadfast trust in God’s guidance and truth.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of life and the beauty of Your creation. Open our eyes and tune our ears to see Your majesty. Grant us wisdom, knowledge, and understanding, that we may recognize Your divine presence in our lives. To You belong all praise, glory, and honour.
Thought for the DAY
Heaven declares His glory; the sky proclaims His handiwork—what a mighty God we serve; am I living fully in the gift He’s given me?
