REFLECT CHRIST IN HEART AND ACTIONS

Bible Reading:  MATTHEW 5:21-32

Key verse: VERSE 23: “Therefore if you are offering gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift thee in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them, then come and offer your gift.”

DEVOTION

Jesus focuses on the inner disposition of heart that leads to outer acts of sin or righteousness. 1 John 3:15 says,” anyone who hates a brother or sister is a murderer and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in Him.” Jesus emphasizes that anger, hateful words and insulting is equivalent to murder in God’s eyes. Rather than outward actions, our inner thoughts are important in the eyes of God. If we have any grudge with our fellow-being, we should reconcile with them. Reconciliation means restoration of friendly relations. Listening and talking friendly with a heartfelt smile is a way of reconciliation. Apologize for being rude to our brother and sister and talk to them without blaming. Blaming each other will make the situation worse but apologizing creates a peaceful atmosphere. Rather than any expensive gifts or offerings, our loving heart matters in the eyes of God. We should always bear the fruits of Holy Spirit- love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Holy Spirit guides us to maintain good –friendly relations with everyone.

PRAYER

Our Lord and savior Jesus Christ, help us to be a good human being. Help us to reflect the fruits of Holy Spirit in each day of our life. Help us to reconcile with those whom we hate, help us to reflect you in our words and deeds in each day. In Jesus name we pray. AMEN.
