Jesus Christ who Leads to Wholistic Healing.
Bible portion Colossians 1: 15-24“For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in him, and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through His blood, shed on the cross.” Vs.19-20
Devotional Text
The narrative of creation portrays mankind as being created in the image of God, enjoying intimate fellowship with Him in a state of wholeness (Genesis 1:27). However, the introduction of sin led to separation and corruption, distancing humanity from the wholistic purpose of divine creation, resulting in alienation from God and the perpetration of evil deeds (Vs.21).
In the passage for today’s meditation, the scripture reveals the profound truth that God was pleased to manifest His fullness through Jesus Christ. Amidst the prevalence of false teachings undermining Christ's deity, Apostle Paul underscores His preeminence and sufficiency as the creator and sustainer of all things (Vs.16), instilling hope in the world to place their trust in Jesus Christ – the sole provider of wholeness and the restorer of divine purpose in creation.
While Jesus performed numerous miracles during His earthly ministry, some were content with the physical healing or material provision He offered, neglecting to seek Him as the source of eternal life. Among the ten lepers healed by Jesus, only one returned to Him in faith, seeking wholistic healing (Luke 17:19).
The core of the wholistic healing lies in the peace He secured through His sacrificial death on the cross, reconciling humanity to Himself (Vs.19). This reconciliation results in our presentation as holy, blameless, and beyond reproach before Him, eradicating the alienation caused by sin (Vs.20-22).
Our identity and standing are rooted in Christ, who is the head of the Church, with believers united as members of that body (Vs.18). Paul reassures us in Col. 2:9-10 that in Christ we are complete, as the fullness of the Godhead dwells within Him.
Col. 1:23 reminds us of our responsibility to remain steadfast in the faith, unwavering in our hope in the gospel of Christ. This journey is a progressive one, aimed at fulfilling the divine purpose of conforming us to the likeness of His Son Jesus Christ. As recipients of wholistic healing, believers are called to reflect the character of Christ bringing healing, comfort, and hope to others.
Prayer
: Lord Jesus, I long to be perfectly whole, I want Thee forever to live in my soul;
Break down every idol, cast out every foe; Now wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. (Song by James Nicholson)
Thought for the Day
“Prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers”. (3 John:2)
