Theme: Great Lent - An Invitation for Transformation

Assigned Verse: Psalm 6: 1-10

During the Lenten period it is important for us to understand to be sorry to the Lord for all your wrongdoings. Here in this passage we can hear David expressing sorrow for his sin. David is completely overwhelmed with terror and asks the Lord how long this is going to last. He realizes soon enough that he is going through the consequence of his own sin. He cries aloud to the Lord and asks for forgiveness. David knows that God has an abundance of love and will forgive him and heal him from his distress. He felt distant from God which is why he felt weak.

Lent calls us to be closer with God which first comes from repentance. We should be able to say “I'm sorry” to the Lord in order for us to get closer to him. We should understand that the Lord’s steadfast love is what forgives us and allows us to stand today. Although it may be very difficult for us to do so, without humbling ourselves we won’t get anywhere. All we have to do is ask, which may seem easy but it isn’t a silly task. We must be able to ask God for forgiveness because it won’t just be automatically given to us. God gives us the opportunity of just asking him for help which we should grasp our hands upon. We identified that David was distant from God which was why he was weak, but once we are close to God we will regain strength. There are many times in which we may feel weak, and that’s when we are distant from the Lord but you should remember to put your focus back to him and your strength will be restored. Prayer is the most powerful aspect of one’s faith. With prayer you are able to reconnect with God and continue the relationship with him. Many times we forget to pray or maybe feel as though we have no time to pray, but that mindset is what places us farther away from God.

Prayer
Gracious God, we ask you to come into our lives further during this Lenten time. Please give us the strength to direct our lives into your keeping and to understand that you are in control. Thank you for the continuous love and mercy you have showered upon us and giving us the opportunity to ask you anything. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
