Honoring the body as the Temple of God
1 Corinthians 3:16-23
Vs 16 Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?
According to Gods word, we are his temple, or his house. He lives in us and we were bought with a price. So, we have to honor God and bring glory to him in our body. (1Corinthians 6:20). Holy spirit reveals to us that the believers are the Lord’s possession (v. 23). He has fashioned our bodies to serve Him and carry out the work that He has planned for us to accomplish.
God created us with a mind, body, and spirit. Of the three aspects, the body is the one that allows us to interact with our environment. People cannot reach their full potential while neglecting the proper care of their bodies. What good are education, talents and gifts if we’re too tired or sick to complete tasks well? Here in the world, we can do nothing apart from our physical body. Since it is the only one we will have in this life, we should do our best to keep it in good condition. Believers should also recognize their responsibility to treat the earthly body like the sacred and special dwelling place that it is. Paul is not talking about piercings, tattoos, junk food or exercise, instead about sexual sin when he says that every Christian should learn “how to control his own body in holiness and honor because our bodies are sacred (1 Thessalonians 4:4 )
As we are in Jesus Christ and the holy spirit lives in us, lets honor our God. We are his dwelling place!

PRAYER
Most gracious heavenly father, you have created us in your image and made us your prized possession. Help us to be a useful witness for your kingdom. Amen
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Say to yourself several times a day: I am the dwelling place of God. He makes His home in me .
