MEDICAL MISSION

Bible Reading: James 5:13-18

Key Verse:  V14:  Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

DEVOTION

Mar Thoma medical mission has distinguished institutions dedicated to provide  health care needs of the people in several parts of Kerala and India at large. Medical mission hospitals at Ranni, Kattanam and Kumbanad  are few examples. These Institutions  are committed to deliver comprehensive, high quality health care service to people in the surrounding towns where they are located.  Our mission is to serve the community through comprehensive medical care, expert staff and  at affordable means.
This passage from James epistle is relating to  healing of the sick through faithful prayer of the sick person as well as elders of the church concerned about him. It takes us deep into God's grace.  In the face  of our weakness and sin, instead of chasing us away from His presence ,God's response is in the cleansing of our sins  through the blood of Christ, when we bow down  over to His throne in prayer in faith. Lord opens the door to heaven and invites us to come boldly before Him with all our needs.  It is because of His long suffering, compassion and mercy that the Lord of the universe bestows on us, as He cares about our lives.  God does not shame you on  your failures, but  redeems from the slavery of the sin. God is available to us at any moment of life, His ears open, His throne is never shut and access is possible to all who  come to Him in faith in Christ and in the power of the Holy spirit.
V15,James is telling us that prayer of faith will save the one who will seek Him earnestly with a heart of repentance, and the Lord will raise him up.  Elders of the church can join the prayer as well and anoint the sick in the name of the Lord. This  verse is to be understood in God's point of view. It is sound to believe that ultimately God is the healer. We can humbly trust God and ask for healing, and leave the rest in His hands, it is His will.

   PRAYER

Precious Lord, Thank you for the privilege you gave us to come  to your throne with all our needs and failures with a repenting heart, through prayer in faith. Lord help us to build our trust in your healing touch. Amen.

Thought for the day

Believers should pray in every circumstances and seasons of life in faith.  And to believe that it is our privilege to see that His heavenly touch only can make us whole.
