THE HOPE OF CHRIST IN OUR HEARTS

Bible Reading:   1Peter:3 14-18

Key Verse:  V15  But in your hearts set apart Christ as lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who ask you to give the reason for the hope that you  have.

DEVOTION

Here we see Apostle Peter's exhortation to the believers to make an inner commitment to Christ.  Then they will not be confused when called to defend their faith, but will be ready to answer  the defenders  your faith. Peter stated that Christians are sometimes called to suffer for doing good, but it is God's will. It is good to remember that this is exactly what our Lord did for us.
This is a concise summary of what happened when Jesus died on the cross.
So the apostle continues to encourage believers to be zealous in obeying the Lord even if it looks weird to others who are non believers.  Even if  you suffer for doing what is right, remember  God will reward you for it.  You need not be worried or afraid of the threats of others, instead worship Jesus as your Lord of life.

To sanctify the Lord in your heart means to make him the focus of your thoughts, to put God first in your life – means to internalize God's word so that we live by every word of it.   How do I sanctify the Lord in my heart? It means
to revere him every single time whether someone else recognize  it or not. That's why as a believer doing the right  thing at your workplace amazes others as they don't see you lie, do wicked things or show any form of irresponsibility.  This will enable you to give a defense – apologia , to answer anyone who asks  you about  the hope that is in you.  Be a person of integrity, try to endure sufferings patiently in every part of life ,especially in situations of unfair treatment and injustice. It is good to remember God is in control of all situations. Take opportunity in such situations to speak clearly about the hope we have in Christ, doing so will honor the Lord.  This should be the prayer of all Christians, be ready to defend your faith with meekness ,in short statement about your hope in Christ and His righteousness.

   PRAYER

Lord help us to look at the cross and your sufferings, when we face unfair treatment, suffering and injustice. Strengthen us to sanctify the Lord in our heart and honor you all the days of life.   Amen.

Thought of the day

Be prepared to give a defense in making a case for our faith in Christ, and be ready to answer anyone about the hope that is in you.
