 SING TO THE LORD

 Bible portion : Galatians 4:1-7
Verse: 7  So then you are no longer a slave but a son: and if a son an heir also through God.

Devotion
This portion explains one of the core messages of the gospel and an essence of the new testament theology. Apostle Paul  is trying to depict a word picture of our relationship with God using the concept of  children growing up to be mature enough to change the status of a slave under the law, to the sonship of the Father.  How can a small child though born as a son and heir of a big estate, can take over the duty of the sonship of the Father to take decisions independently. He is subject  to guardians and trustees till he reaches age, when Father decides he is an adult responsible for heirloom.
The time appointed by the Father refers to the time God sovereignly chose to act. God has been preparing the historical and cultural conditions appropriate for His son to arrive in this fallen world. Before the coming of the son at the appointed time, we were slaves under the law . Then the son of God was born to be the seed of a woman – virgin Mary – as promised through prophets of the old testament.  Christ was also born under the law as revealed by all four gospels,
(Luke 2: 21-24)  in order to redeem  God's chosen people  from the custody of the law, so that they might receive sonship and become sons of God through he spirit of God in Christ.
God's economy  is not to save us, to be the keepers of the law, or obeying the ordinances of law, but  it is to adopt us into sonship of God to enjoy a divine life, and inherit  the blessing of God's promise which is given
for eternal life. We should strive to remain in His sonship to inherit all that  God has planned for His chosen.  The spirit of God help our sonship to salute our Father God as “Abba”. This subjective  experience in the depth of our being, help us to call God as our Father.

                                                Prayer
Lord our God, thank you for sending your son Jesus at the appointed time to redeem us from the custody of the law, gave us salvation by faith through Grace. Amen
Thought for the Day
The New Testament believer is no longer  be a slave to the work under the law, but  be redeemed into His sonship to eternal life under grace.
