God's Blueprint for Marriage
Psalms 128
There are several blessings that the word of God promises to those who fear God. One
of the blessings is about their family life. The Home of a person whose walk is in
obedience to God’s Word is the sacred space in which God works His plans to the
world When God created Adam and Eve, the very first command he gave them is found
in Gen 1:28, God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number;
till the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and
over every living creature that moves on the ground.” This commission of God to
human beings had to do with filling the world with godly generation who will be good
stewards and managers of all what God had created and put under the human care.
But the blessing of God was messed up and affected by the fall of humankind. The
reality of sin and disobedience made Adam and Eve witness the first murder within
their home when Cain murdered Abel. The future generations were walking away from
the wonderful plan of God. The blessing of God was misused and that resulted in hard
labor to even eat their food. The man had to sweat it out to eat his food and provide
his family work which was done, by being a joyful co-laborer with God became a drudgery and a fight for survival for the man
But this psalm 128 gives hope to the man who fears God. His marriage is blessed, and
his wife is a complementary companion to bring joy and happiness to the family. His
children are like olive shoots that signifies prosperity and hope to the future generation.
The call and commission of God to Adam and Eve, which was affected by their
disobedience is now restored through the one who walks in obedience to God. As we
still live in a fallen world, the effect of sin is still experienced in many homes. However,
the promise of God to bless families that obeys the call and commission of God is truly
refreshing and hopeful. Are you living in the fear of God obeying Him and His word? Do
you realize that obeying God makes you a great recipient of His blessings that last a
generation as promised in this psalm?

Prayer
Lord Jesus, we know through your death on the cross, you took the punishment
for our disobedience. We want to walk in your ways and live to honor you. Please help
us to fear you and obey you to experience the blessings that you have promised in
your Word. In Jesus Name. Amen
