Jesus Christ, the One Who Won Over Death by Death

Isaiah 56:1-6

"Thus says the Lord: Maintain justice, and do what is right, for soon my salvation will come and my deliverance be revealed." (v.1)
In v. 2, we can see that God had commanded all His people to honor Him.  The significant part to remember about the Sabbath is that it is a day of rest, but what does rest mean?  Rest is made to be holy because we should find rest in Him.  In all the ways we see ourselves as held up with our time, we should have our time set apart to honor God.  Ultimately it reminds us that time belongs to God.  As the Jewish community set apart Saturday as their Sabbath, we as Christians are reminded that Sunday is a day that is commemorated as the day Christ rose from the dead.  Today as we set apart as holy Saturday and look forward to Easter, or as we should remember it as Resurrection Day, let us commemorate that we have a day set apart for the Lord as the Lord’s Day.  It is a day of our rest to honor God.

In v. 3, we see here that Isaiah proclaims the fundamental message that God’s grace, mercy, and blessings are for all people.  There is no favoritism.  No matter what our socioeconomic background is, our ethnicity, or our educational background, God’s abundant blessings are there for us just like anyone else, and no one is excluded.  As we commemorate this whole passion week experience and look forward to celebrating the resurrection, the celebration of God in Christ’s power over death, and the gift of eternal life, let us live our lives in love and response of thanksgiving for all God has given to us, as God shares to all, we are also called out and sent out to share our lives to all and through that, ultimately we should point our lives to the Holy and Triune God.

Let us together use the time that God has given us in this world, to celebrate, Christ is Risen!  Indeed He is Risen!

Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the greatest gift we received, that is Your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. May we understand the true meaning of the cross, through the power of the Holy Spirit, so that we can lead more genuine Christian lives, and be empowered to be Your witnesses. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Thought for the Day
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life.  Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.  Do you believe this? - St. John 11:25-26
