 MINISTRY OF RECONCILIATION

Bible portion   Mathew 5: 21-26

Verse : 22   But I tell you that anyone  who is angry with his  brother will be subject to
judgement.

Devotional Text
This passage  is an exposition of Jesus' teaching on anger mangement and
resultant judgment associated with that sin.   Jesus explains  His teachings about anger and its unrighteousness.  It is pointed  out that  anger is a sin that involves more than just actions, but also includes thoughts and attitudes.   One might easily  can say “ I do not murder,  but it is very difficult to say,” I do not  unfairly get  angry with other people.
What this teaching implies is that, Jesus  wants us to pay attention to the
motives and attitudes of the heart. The heart is the seat of  all motives and actions. If  the
seeds of hatred is not controlled, your words will be bitter, or  utterings of evil. So if our hearts are not right with our brethren, we cannot be right with God.  It is  good to know that right relationship with others is important for a meaningful worship acceptable to God. Meeting God's standards means perfection and His righteousness, that  will go far beyond  our unrighteous  attitudes and behaviors. As we all know Gospel of Mathew chapter5,6,7 deals with sermon on the mount discourses, and Jesus was concluding his talk by telling us that, we must live an ultra righeous life in order to get into the Kingdom of God, which will only be possible  through a transformed life of repentence and  receive God's righeousness through Grace alone.
Our relationship with brethren is important to the extent that one should interrupt his offering at the altar, to a mission of reconciliation  before continuing worship. Jesus went on to explain the spiritual aspect of unresolved conflicts which can lead to unresolved lawsuit.  When you have truly wronged with a person, you are in danger of judgement.  The proper response is to make things squared away quickly.
To conclude,  one  should pay attention to  anger  management  , consider it as a sin,   it should be dealt with  and make a serious attempt to reconcile with  our brethren to whom we offended  with our  words and attitudes.  Judgement is the consequence for unrepented    anger  and   it is worth remembering that  God is serious about  this and  it requires that all His faithfull , to pursue Godliness and reconciliation.
Let us therefore repent and manage our behavior and attitudes in dealing with anger.

                                                                      Prayer
Lord our merciful Father, help us to  reconcile with  our brethren with whom we offended  through our words and  deeds.  Forgive us and rescue us from the judgement that is preventing us from eternity. Amen.

                                                        Thought for the Day
Mission of reconciliation is important to have right relationship with God and brethren, and the anger and hatred are sins which needs repentance in order to  escape judgement.
