Life: For the Glory of God

Bible portion: Ephesians 5: 15-20

Ephesians 5: 15-16
15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil

And just like that it is 2024. A lot of us are reflecting on the past year saying, “I blinked and another year has passed”. In the busyness of our lives, it is easy to find ourselves swept away by the currents of deadlines and constant demands of the world. Time moves on so fast like sand through our fingers. In this midst of this, let us reflect and refocus using the verses in today’s passage. It offers us a timeless guide reminding us to live our lives for the glory of God.
Verses 15-16 says, “15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil”. Each new day is a new opportunity to align our will in accordance with Gods will and to embrace wisdom and discernment. We are called to be Gods representation here on earth; filled with the spirit expressing gratitude in our hearts and offering praise to God through every aspect of our lives. Paul offers a similar sentiment when he spoke to the Romans saying to “offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to god, this is your true and proper worship” (Romans 12:1).
The passage also echoes the wisdom found in the parable of the wise man in Matthew 7: 24-27. Like the man who built the house on a sturdy foundation that can withstand storms, Ephesians calls us to walk wisely and build our lives on the solid foundation of God’s truth.
In our day to day lives, living a life for the glory of God may seem like an impossible and daunting task. But by seizing every day as a new opportunity and building our lives on the solid rock of God’s wisdom, we not only weather the storms but also shine as a beacon of his Glory.

                                                                    PRAYER
Lord, as we embark on a new year, let us live a life that is pleasing to you. Let us walk wisely in your truth and build our lives on this solid foundation. May our actions and choices reflect Your enduring love, transforming our ordinary lives into an extraordinary testament of Your grace. Amen.

                                                        Thought for the Day
Consider your daily interactions, your work, and your relationships. How can you bring glory to God in these areas?
