Holy Qurbana – Commemoration & Experience of the Salvic Event

Scripture:  John 1:1-10

Key Verse:  The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. John 1: 9

The opening of John’s gospel reminds us of the opening of Genesis. From the phrase “in [the] beginning,” to the emphasis on God’s Word as a creative force, to the language of light and darkness, Genesis is ever-present in this gospel. Why did this light have to come into this world? To remove darkness.
Salvation is saving human beings from darkness to light, from sin and its consequences (which include death and separation from God), by Christ's death and resurrection and when we are saved, we are justified before God the father.
Salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Acts 4:12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. God's Word says that we are saved by grace through faith in Christ Jesus and not by our own efforts or works (Ephesians 2:8-9). Grace Alone. Faith Alone. Grace alone means that God loves, forgives, and saves us not because of who we are or what we do, but because of the work of Christ.
Holy Communion is the act of receiving the Body and Blood of Christ that was sacrificed on the cross, in obedience to the one who saved us by his sacrifice. He said we should do it in remembrance of Him.
Matthew 26:26-28. “As they were eating, Jesus took some bread and blessed it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, “Take this and eat it, for this is my body.” And he took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. He gave it to them and said, “Each of you drink from it, for this is my blood, which confirms the covenant between God and his people. It is poured out as a sacrifice to forgive the sins of many.” We partake in the Holy Qurbana in obedience, for He saved us from eternal darkness to be part of Him to eternity.

                                           PRAYER

Lord, help us accept Your death as the penalty for our sins and recognize that Your mercy and grace is a gift You offer to us because of Your great love, not based on anything we have done. Cleanse us and make us Your children. Amen

Thought for the Day
:The bread of the Eucharist is the flesh of Jesus Christ who suffered for our sins; the cup is His blood which He shed for many for the remission of sins." - St. Ignatius of Antioch
