Holy Qurbana – Commemoration & Experience of the Salvic Event
This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many." (V. 24)
In this chapter St. Mark describes how Jesus and his observed the Passover festival. After that they went to the mount of Olives and Jesus was betrayed by Judas. Jesus was knowing that he will be betrayed by Judas. So this Passover festival has a special reverence. Jesus knows that he is going to face the worst time in this world. So, with all agony and greatest anguish Jesus is celebrating this Passover. He knows what is next. Before going to cross he is establishing what he intended.
1. Each Holy Qurbana is the remembrance of His living commemoration.
Jesus said “celebrate this till I come “This is a command, and we must observe it. That is why there is an urge in us to go to church on Sunday and participate in Holy - Communion. We experience the touch of Jesus when we participate in Holy communion. It is an experience of divine healing and eternal life. Jesus wanted to establish this for His loved ones
2. Formation only through hewing. There is no making without breaking.
In St. John 6:56 we read,” whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them.”
Hewed body and teared blood of Jesus Christ gives us eternal life. When we participate in holy communion it helps in the revival of our life. Each holy communion is an invitation to stay along with Christ. Our survival is only through Jesus Christ. It is the new covenant
3. Submission with a broken heart.
Jesus went to the cross for the sinners. A sinner like me and you. Any sinner can be redeemed by the blood of Jesus. Any betrayer can save his life by approaching the cross. How intense may be our sin, the grace of our lord is sufficient to heal us. Remember the sacrifice of our Lord. Submit ourselves to cross through holy communion. Jesus Christ is inviting you to this divine meal. It is salvation for us. Not to perish in this world. Let us hear the divine call, part take in this celebration, with the broken heart. May the love of God remain with us.
PRAYER
Lord God, we commit ourselves into the hands of the one who was broken and gave us new life so that we would not be broken. Guide us daily in your experience. Amen.
Thought for the Day
Holy Communion is the place for the active presence of the sacrificial offering of a prepared heart.
