 BE PREPARED FOR HIS DAY

Mathew 24:1-28

Verse: 7b. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.
All these are the beginning of  birth pains.
This passage referrd to as the fifth great discourse of Jesus, which is also called  olivet discourse. Jesus is giving us a glimplse into the future and things that will happen to Jerusalem. Jesus explains the destruction of the temple and why it was destroyed. The temple was destroyed by the Roman army in 70 AD, and they were only a means not a reason.  This portion also gives us a glimplse  of what happens when we fail spiritually or refuse to repent, so that our sins will accumulate  and escalate, while God's grace is seeking to resolve, heal and reconcile us to Him.
The first part of the tribulation is explained in this text. A series of events to happen is told, before he returns to earth in power and glory. Jesus calls every believer to watch and be ready, not to be consummed or worried, for he is still  in control.  We are to look to him, not just the signs, we are to trust him, not in the times, our faith should be only in Him, , not what will happen or may happen. The disciples were  excited to see the splendor of man's creativity and saw God's glory in them. The temple was central to Judaism  and believed to be indestructible. Jesus  refocuses them on God ,and away from things that soon would all be rubble.
We are called to be discerning ,so that we will not be deceived. We need to evaluate everything by the word of God, while being sensitive to the holy spirit.   Jesus clearly taught everyone that, suffering is a part of life in this world, but  we have to learn to cope, trust in Him, prepare ourselves in order that we can help others as well as ourselves through it.  We live a fallen world where sin has corruted everything and everyone, so disaster will come.  We are called to prepare and plan ahead and to look to Christ as the deliverer. God is in control.  Scripture warns us from being spiritually and emotionally defeated while passing through the tough times, but one needs to endure  till the last  and will be saved. We are admonished not to loose our faith, Christ Jesus will secure us, not our environment or events.
Lastly, our interpretation of scripture must be accurate, never to ignore or replace His words with ours. Jesus  can come anytime, he is not bound by the limits of our understanding of the end times theology. He is God and His timing and control are soverign. Jesus second coming will not be as subtle  as  it was at first, but it will be spectacularly  noticeable  to whole world.

                                                PRAYER

Most gracious father, you are soverign and is in control of everything in this world and in heaven. Help us to strengthen our faith and believe that your will redeem  us  in any situation that may arise in future.   Help us to be prepared for your day. Amen.

Thought for the Day
No matter what will happen at end times, God will redeem those who are in Him.
