  WORLD DAY OF PRAYER

Ephesians 1 :15-19

Vs 15: For this  cause  I also having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which is among you and the love which toward all the saints.

World Day of Prayer is celebrated on the first Friday of March each year to encourage and promote Christian women of different denominations to come together to worship and pray. They  mainly in their gatherings pray for their personal needs  as well as intercede for  other women and children all over the world. Every year they select a country that seeks prayer and help utmost and promote and expose them to the world. When I say expose I mean their language, their culture, socio-economic structure, habitat and cultivation etc. Women of Taiwan is the focus in 2023 prayer day. They make a worship order that is circulated worldwide and usually translated over 13 languages.
This initiative was started in 1881 by a group of women that established particular mission boards for foreigners as well as home missions. The world day of Prayer was started in USA in 1887 when Mary Ellen Fairchild James wife of Darwin Rush James from New York called for a day of prayer for different home mission activities  followed by a Methodist woman  calling for a week of prayer and self-denial for foreign missions. This prayer gathering now in US promotes justice and equality for women through prayer, partnerships and service.
The theme for this year’s prayer day is “I have heard about your faith “based on Ephesians 115-19.In Paul’s letter to the Ephesians He give thanks to God for  their love and faith. The immeasurable  greatness of God’s power, the hope  coming out of the knowledge of Christ and the riches of God’s glorious inheritance among the saints are the  three major truths that Paul acknowledges with thanks and praises God. He also says in Vs 15 “I keep asking that  the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious father may give you the spirit of wisdom and revelations so that you may know Him better. He wants the Ephesians to know God’s power, love  and purpose.
Today as we celebrate the WDP and pray for  Taiwan let us be  firm that God has a plan for  the people of Taiwan and let us uphold them in our prayers and encourage in their  perseverance of faith and hope.
Prayer: Lord we trust and believe  that you are our creator and sustainer. You made this world in your design and created man in your own image as the supreme of the creations. Let us praise daily for our  being in this world and enable us to help  and intercede for others with humility
Thought  for the Day

“And pray in the spirit on all occasions with all kinds of  kinds of prayers and requests. Be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”
