Authenticity of the Word of God

Heb 4:12-16

Vs.12: For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, even penetrating as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

The word of God is living "alive" because the author of the Word and the Word itself is life and living  - St.John 6:63, Hebrews 3:12. And like we see in the parable of the sower (St. Matthew 13:1-23), seeds like the Word  of God is a living organism that when spread and planted in fertile soil produces abundant life, and we have the imperishable seed in us as in 1 Peter 1:24-25

The word of God is active and the Greek word is “energes” from which we get our word energy, it means that the character of the Word of God is inexhaustible and dynamic energy operating in us, through us, and around us, it is not static or idle in the lives of a genuine believer, as in 1 Thessalonians 2:13

The Word of God is sharper than any two-edged sword - a division of the soul and spirit …to judge the thoughts and intentions.  we see that the Word of God is not only for comfort and counsel but also to convict us so that we can be conformed to His image, it is not something to read or listen to passively and then forget but to read intently , as in 2 Timothy 3:16-17 - God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work. And it is only by His grace and mercy we can be transformed into his image

Prayer
Lord help us to realize you are a Sovereign God and you care more about our heart than any thing else , and we need your grace and mercy to help us to be who you want us to be, forgive us for trying to do it in our own strength. Amen.

Thought of the Day
May we let the word of God be a lamp to guide our feet and a light to illuminate our path through this life - Psalm 119:105
