 Sanctification of the Church

2 Chronicles 34: 14-28

As we read we can see that Hilkiah the priest found the Book of the Law of the Lord, and he gave it to Saphan. Saphan tells the king about the discovery, and the king wants to hear the words from the books, and this is a very important moment in this story because this is where the word of God spreads. Now bear in mind, at that time King Josiah had never heard or listened to the word of God, and in discovering this book, the king wanted to know what was in the book. In the bible, it says “When the king heard the words of the Law, he tore his robes.” He then says to Sapahn and his people around him “Go and inquire of the Lord for me and for the remnant in Israel and Judah about what is written in this book that has been found.” Hearing these words of God had a very big spiritual impact on Josiah, so much that he tore his robe.” Now back then tearing of clothing was a traditional expression of horror and astonishment. King Josiah knew his country had fallen into sin, and they had broken the laws, so he was in mess. In the following few verses, we can see God speaking to King Josiah. God said that he was going to bring calamity to the nation, but because King Josiah cried and showed his humbleness before God, he wouldn’t do it while the king was alive.

The word God can forever change us!

Knowing God can forever change us and have a big impact on our day-to-day lives. In this passage, we can see how King Josiah changes in a spiritual way. As soon as he hears the word of God, he finds a new way of thinking. We as a Christian Community should be like the book of the law of the lord, educating and teaching others about the word of God. Learning about the word can show us and others a light into having hope, and living the right way of life.

God forgives all

The Lord forgives all who repent and show humbleness. King Josiah turned back from his cruel way and he cried and repented for the sins of his community. But this doesn’t mean that you can go around doing sin and asking for forgiveness. God loves everyone, and even if you have just met the Lord you still have a chance to be saved. Jesus Christ provided a way for us to be forgiven. He suffered for our sins so that if we repent, we can become clean again and be free from regret.

Prayer
Lord, Thank you for showering your blessings and mercies on us every day, thank you for saving us in times of need, and for providing for us when we were weak. Lord help us and allow us to spread your message and word to those around us, and to those who don’t know about you. Be with us your children, and help those who are in need, all this I pray in Jesus name. AMEN
