 Women: Defenders of Faith

2 King 5: 1-4
V 3: She said to his mistress, “If only my master would see the prophet who is in Samaria! He would cure him of his leprosy.”

We are living in a world where women fight for equality. We all are created in the image of God, and in need of God’s grace. We are called to obey God and to be responsible, but our roles and responsibilities differentiate us.  
The young captive girl mentioned in this passage had every right to curse herself, blame her God, blame the king of her nation and blame her parents silently and be bitter inside. But she used her God-given talent and opportunity with her limited freedom to spread her faith. 

She was a silent observer. Her young mind was capable to understand the inner cry of her mighty master. Instead of thinking he deserves to be a leper for his wrongdoings and for keeping her as a captive, she used the opportunity to tell Naaman’s wife what a mighty God she serves. She had the courage to talk about her living God to her mistress who worship another god.

All the people mentioned in this passage are equal only because they all are created in the image of God and in need of God’s redemption. But they are all different in their roles and power. The young captive girl used her position to share her faith in a foreign country and lead the army’s commander to believe in the Lord she serves. (2 King 5: 17).

It is written in Psalm 144:12 “Our daughters will be like pillars carved to adorn a palace.” God has placed us in various walks of life. The problems and opportunities are not equal, and it is not given equally to all the members of the church. As pillars are carved in different shapes and strengths to give beauty or support, God has created us with different abilities. Instead of thinking if I had the ability of someone else, let us examine ourselves and find out our unique role and responsibility to defend our faith.  

The young captive girl from Israel proved herself as a perfectly carved pillar in Naaman’s household to bring healing, peace, happiness, and the knowledge of the living God. 

We are called to be proclaimers of our faith. Let us approach the Naamans who are keeping us captive, with faith and grace. 

Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank you for the unique opportunities you are giving me in my life. Help me to make you of it for the glory of Thy kingdom.

PRIESTHOOD: THE ANOINTED MINISTRY Exodus 40:12-16 Bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting... wash them with water. Then dress Aaron in the sacred garments, anoint him and consecrate him so he may serve me as priest (Exodus 40: 12-13). Priesthood among the people of God was a divine command and initiation. God wanted some people to be separated for the special ministry among his people. God appointed Aaron and his descendants to take up this kind of ministry among the people of God.
