 Education Based on Divine Grace

Col 1:24-29

He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. (v.28)

The Epistle of Colossians to me personally is one of the most powerful books in the bible. Written by St. Paul and Timothy, it delves into the problems of the church and challenges the believers of Christ to be changed through the word. Especially in the first chapter of this book, goes into Paul’s work for the church.

What is divine grace? It is a divine gift that is given by God through his son Jesus Christ.
He was born of God’s Spirit and this Spirit accompanied Him His whole life, giving Him the strength to carry out the task He was sent for. Jesus’ death on the cross on Calvary, though absolutely one of the most powerful events ever on earth, is actually only part of the Christian story. By that strength of the Spirit that was with Him from birth, Jesus had “suffered in the flesh” by denying it and not giving in to the sin that He had in His nature as a human being. So though He was tempted, He never sinned. And so when Jesus died on the cross, He cried out, “It is finished!” At that moment, every last shred of the sin He had inherited in His human nature had been crucified, and His work on earth was finished. When Jesus died, the veil in the temple was torn from top to bottom. The debt had been paid and the father’s arms were open again.

Many people do not recognize how important this act of sacrificial love is. We should be grateful and honored to have this kind of love from our God. And we as Christians should be educating this Good News with others as we have been commissioned to do (Matthew 28:18-20). And with this, we should also not be afraid to share this Holy Gospel. In the Epistle of Romans 1:16, we read “ For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.”

Prayer

Lord help me to fight my natural desire to seek my own selfish desire. Help me to glorify you, in my life today by giving me wisdom in decisions that are driven by your Holy Spirit.
