 1Timothy 3:1-7

V-7 He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into
Disgrace and into the devil’s  trap.

Saint Paul wrote this letter to his protégé, Timothy, regarding the credentials required for a bishop or overseer in the church. This is applicable in the election of community leaders and national leaders as well. The family is the basic building block in the formation of a community. Communities are the bigger building blocks that create a nation. The stability of the nation depends on the stability of the family. It is true that the strength of the chain is the strength of the weakest link in it.
The country we live in is founded on Judeo-Christian ethics and closely linked to Bible principles. In order to maintain that heritage a Christian presence is required at all times. It is imperative for people with strong Christian values to be involved in the governing of the nation. We can see the aftermath of selfish people without faith and conviction getting into authority and destroying the moral foundation of the nation. When the moral values deteriorate it will destabilizes the nation and creates chaos. Integrity is an essential attribute for all people especially the leaders. A good percentage of Christian youths are not interested in getting involved with governmental affairs of the nation which create a vacuum for dishonest ones to get into authority.
When Jesus told the parable of the wise and foolish builders He was emphasized the need for a strong foundation. Christians are placed in this dark and decaying world as the light and salt. People with Christian values are needed in the building and sustaining a nation.

Prayer
Dear Lord help us to be an instrument in the building up of the nation in which You have placed us. Amen

 Thought for the Day
Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people (Prov. 14:34)
