THE CHURCH THAT HAS TO BEAR WITNESS TO THE RESURRECTION

 2 Cori  4: 7-15
Verse: 10 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that  the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body

Apostle Paul was led by the Holy Spirit and had the unique experience of absorbing or containing the death of Jesus into his mortal body so that he can be used as an earthen vessel holding the glory of God.  It is a great passage for admitting that we, who bear this message of the gospel of Jesus in this world, may do so by containing in imperfect containers – Jars of Clay.   We bear this remarkable treasure in earthen vessels, which is easily broken, in and of ourselves. We are frail and imperfect as we may be, but God still bears His image through us. In fact, God's power seems to display itself best through our frailties and brokenness.
The treasure is the gospel of Jesus and his glory, which every true Christian bear in testimony.
The gospel of Jesus, which is the unsearchable riches of Christ,  can wash the hell-bound sinner and cleanse his sins, and the joy of forgiveness is showered on him out of Grace. Every Christian was given the unique honor of preaching this gospel of glory to every unbeliever.  Forces of evil and hell are battling against the witness bearers of Christ while preaching the gospel – it is a unique Christian experience.
Holy Spirit led Paul to say that we are carrying about in the body, the dying of  Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus may be manifested in our body. Each day paul felt laying down his life for Jesus, so that the Lord may fully manifest his Glory through him. Apostles were witness bearers of the resurrected Christ, they did not get trained to do such a thing, but they were first-hand witnesses of His life, ministry and crucifixion, and resurrection.
We are not called to do preaching or teaching alone,  but to bear testimony of the crucified lord. We may not have seen Lord physically but he has appeared to us on various occasions of suffering, hardships sickness, at the time of the pandemic.  So we cannot help but testify of His mercies we received from Him.
How do we prove our faith and commitment to the Lord? Is there any Christian who has integrity?  It is good to remember that Christian integrity comes from us “poor earthen vessels” dying to self, so that the excellence of the power of God may authentically live in and through us.

Prayer
Lord, we admit that we live as Christians, but lack integrity. Help us to live as good witnesses and bear testimony, sharing the message of gospel to the world. Amen.

Thought for the day:
A witness is one who personally  see or experience something  and / or has  firsthand encounter with the person or the incident, and  can testify  what he has  seen or experienced.
