 Journey with the Risen Christ

Ephesians 5: 1-10
Ephesians Chapter 5 verses 1-10, written by the Apostle Paul, informs us to try and live our lives with the same lovingness and heartfelt actions that God has shown throughout the years. It tells us to be imitators of God. It is basically telling us that we should be children of God. In our current society children are growing daily and as they grow they tend to imitate the actions of their parents. In the same way as children of God, we should imitate the actions and love God has shown us. Paul writes that as Christians we should stay away from committing sins, such as sexual sins, foolish talking, and dirty behavior, as human beings on this earth we have to try and fall away from being a victim of sin. This chapter also addresses the consequences of falling into these sins, Paul states that we as Christians will not inherit the kingdom of God if we continue to conform to the evil ideas of today.

We as Christians of the new world should push ourselves to be more like God. God loves everyone on this entire planet, no matter how much some may curse him, and no matter what their belief is, we should strive to be like that. We should show love to the people around us and the people we may not like. It is important to also live an upright and righteous life. Paul states that “No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.”

In verses 8-10 we can see that Paul said we were once in darkness but now we are the light. He not only states that we are in darkness but he says that we used to be the darkness itself, but now we are the light in the Lord. We should continue with that light we have gained, and live a life full of blessings by living in goodness, righteousness, and truth.

Prayer
Lord, Heavenly Father, thank you for the beautiful world you have created and its life and possibilities of it. Lord allow us to live in this world according to your word and your will, Lord helps us to live to be more like you, showing love and care to those around us. Help us throughout the challenges we may face throughout the day, and allow us to have an inheritance in the kingdom of God. Amen.

Thought for the day:
“If you want to be more like Jesus, love the unlovable, forgive the unworthy, and do good to those who can never repay.”
