 GOD THE ONLY SAVIOUR

 Isaiah 43: 1-12
““You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no God was formed, nor will there be one after me. (Isaiah 43:10)

Prophet Isaiah is one of the most important prophets in the old and new testaments who predicted the coming of Jesus, the savior who will provide everlasting peace. Isaiah Chapter 61 is one of the first scrolls Jesus read as he entered the synagogue in Nazareth. The New Testament Gospels highlight all that is prophesied in the ‘Book of Isaiah’ which alludes the importance of prophecies and doctrines. The name Isaiah means “God is Salvation,” and this is at the center of his life and beliefs.  He was convinced that no King, political or military alliance, will be able to protect him – but only GOD.

Trusting the Lord and not relying on people and power is a “TRUTH” that is unfathomable. Can we reflect on our Trust in God this Easter? Take a moment and write down instances when we have relied on our friends, family, seniors, and Not on God.

So isn’t it important to renew this “Trust”, which may be corroding as we grow older?

Life is challenging but holding on to the “trust”, is it beyond human?

Trust and being a witness to the Lord's great mercy was experienced by me recently when HE performed a miracle in the life of a close family friend.

My friend, who is a devout Christian, faced his greatest challenge in life, when he lost his job as he was approaching retirement, and to add to this, he was staring at leaving the country where he has been working for more than 30 years. He was hopeful of leaving the country after settling down his daughter, who is a Masters in Dental. But all his dreams and hopes were being challenged every day. But my friend during this challenging time, prayed and fasted. Everyone tried to help, but the laws of the country were getting tighter, the economic condition was worsening, job losses and nationalization were all over the media which was slowly but surely destroying the determination of his close aides, including me.

But, my friend and mentor never had a doubt. He said that God will provide. He told me that while he was praying for him and his daughter, God provided him with a vision that he will not have to leave the current place without settling his child.

Today, I can say it is only his Trust in God and HIS Grace, the vision has come true. The stringent laws in the country were relaxed, the economy went back from bad to best, he got a visa to stay back and to everyone’s surprise, a new hospital (as if to recruit his daughter) opened and provided his daughter the best possible career start.

Maybe as a human, trusting in HIM is enigmatic. However, for a praying Christian who understands his words is being spiritually guided. When we look back at Isaiah, he was prophesying to Judah which was surrounded by large neighboring countries that were stronger and powerful. His only weapon was to depend on the Lord.

When we are faced with Government regulations, bosses' vengeance and colleagues' enmity - be a witness of God. Rely on Him and no one else. In this chapter, God says “I will give people in exchange for you,  nations in exchange for your life.”

No nation or its political power can stand in front of God.

Today there are so many people in the world who are being challenged by their own Government or the neighboring Governments. As Christians, submit to God and he will give people in exchange for you,  nations in exchange for your life, that is HIS PROMISE. God will never break his promise to his people.

Let the word guide you to righteousness and protect you!

Prayer

O Heavenly Father and ruler of this World, please hear our prayer and provide us with courage to “Trust” in YOU and be a “Witness” in this World. We commit and submit ourselves in your midst. We know that you have died for us and resurrected to deliver us from the bondage of death. We seek everlasting life in you and only you can provide for us.  Amen.
