 Annunciation to Joseph

Genesis 37: 5-11
“So Pharaoh asked them, '' Can we find anyone like this man, one in whom is the spirit of God?“(Genesis 41:38 NIV

Joseph, son of Jacob and Rachel . He was born in Paddan Aram after his mother had been barren for seven years. Nothing is mentioned in the Bible related to his childhood until he reaches 17. He became completely alienated from his brothers because he used to report their misdeeds to their father (V2) Further, as a youngster Joseph was overconfident, his nature of self-assurance, increased by being Jacob’s favorite son made his brothers more envious. Dreaming is not a forbidden human instinct. The Bible tells us about many dreams and its interpretations in old and new testaments. God spoke to many prophets and non-prophets through dreams. Many religions especially Islam religion still believe that God Almighty speaks through dreams and dreams were recognized as means of divine communication between God and man. Neither Joseph nor his brothers needed the service of an interpreter to explain Joseph’s dreams. His brothers became envious of Joseph and sold him to slave traders, yet his character and endurance throughout his young age brought salvation and redemption of an entire nation from slavery to a promised land. The possibility of the rise of a foreign national to a high ranking official in Egypt was unimaginable at that time. Pharaoh further put Joseph in charge of all the land of Egypt and gave him the Official title as “Royal Seal Bearer “. (41:41-42) All the incidents occurred out of his dreams eventually to the migration of the chosen people to Egypt, then enslaved and through a redemption process to a nation called Israel in our times. Joseph was favorite of his father Jacob at his childhood age (v3) he become a favorite of Pharaoh at the age of 30,rewarded a great affirmation statement from ruler of the land then, as mentioned in our key verse (41:38) Centuries later , another revelation was given to a great ,great grandson of David , Joseph of Judea an ordinary carpenter through a divine dream that he shall name a child of his wife as “Jesus” because he will save his people from their sins (Mathew 1:21) Old Testament Joseph played a vital link in redemptive process of Israelites from bondage of slavery to a promise land , new testament Joseph was a model father and a righteous man played a major role in bringing up a fine young man to the Savior of this world from their sins .

Prayer
