Jesus Christ: Fully Human and Fully Divine

Isaiah 40: 10-23
V11 “He tends his flock like a shepherd; he gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young”.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.” John‬ ‭1:1-3‬ . This proves the divinity of Jesus. This Word became flesh and lived amongst human beings, having the same emotions like us. He was zealous and angry at the sellers of goods in the temple. He wept at Lazarus’ tomb seeing the sorrow of his sisters. He was thirsty and asked the Samaritan woman at the well for a drink. He expectantly looked at the fig tree for fruits when he was hungry. He had compassion on those who were suffering. While he was on the cross, He entrusted John with the responsibility of taking care of his mother.

Jesus is the master Shepherd; He leads us to green pastures and refreshes our soul. He loves us, his cherished lambs, carries us in his bosom affectionately so that we don’t stumble and get hurt. He loves us with an everlasting, unconditional love, and he cares for us.  He carries us in his strong arms, keeping us close to his heart while we go through our storms. He is the good shepherd who takes care of our needs, even before we ask him. He is gentle and kind. He knows that we are like lambs, feeble and are lost easily. We need frequent redirection. He is patient with us, seeks us till he finds us and restores us. He binds our wounds. He leads us, guides us and guards us at every step of our way. He knows our weaknesses; he went through all the difficulties and challenges that we go through in life. He was persecuted and tortured by this world; but he overcame the world.

He is the sinless Lamb of God; He is the Alpha and Omega, though divine, he identified himself with sinful man at his first coming as a baby in a manger. He was born to poor parents, lived a simple life, did miracles, healed and preached while he lived on earth. He was crucified on the cross at Golgotha, to redeem us from our sins and to give us eternal life. He laid down his life for us, to rescue his lambs that went astray. By his finished work on the cross, we are saved by his grace. He rose again for our justification and ascended to heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father, advocating for us.

Prayer
Thank you Jesus for being our good Shepherd and taking our place on the cross, thus setting us free from our bondage to our sins. Amen.

Thought for the day
“The Lord is my Shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, and he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake”. Psalms 23: 3
