 Resurrection – Celebration of life

Mathew 27: 62-66

V.63:  Sir, we remember what that impostor said while he was still alive, “ After three days I will rise again.”.

In this passage, we see one of the reactions to Jesus' death that revealed how we should not react to His death.   V.63   obviously  shows this problem ,

1.     the problem of Jesus's claim that he will arise. 2. the message of the risen messiah.

The disciples shared with their families and associates  the words of Christ, about His death and resurrection and as with all matters shared with one another.  The power of the gospel  made the pharisees and the priests  overwhelmed and afraid.

All generations, believers and non-believers  have to deal with the problem of Jesus' claim to be the messiah , the son of God.   St. John reminds us that if any  one acknowledges  that Jesus is son God,  He lives in him and he in God. St. Paul

says that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believes in your heart

that God raised Him   from the dead, you will be saved.    Let us pray with St: Peter “

Praise be the father , and the father of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His great mercy he has given us new birth and a living  hope through the resurrection  of  the Lord from the  dead.

Is it not interesting how Satan gets defeated  at every turn of Jesus' death and resurrection?  The disciples, being his close associates did not  really expect a resurrection of their master. The Pharisees and the high priests were concerned that His associates may make the people believe He is risen.  So they kept the mighty power of the roman army to stop anyone stealing His body.  God through His angelic forces, gave

all the victory to Jesus his son, by raising him from the dead, so that we will have eternal life

PRAYER
Thank you, Sovereign Lord for defeating Satan and his forces   and brought victory over death. Thank you Lord for raising Jesus from the dead, so that I can be sure that you will raise me from the  dead  when Jesus returns. Amen.
