Jesus Christ Who Restores

1 KINGS 17 :17-24

“Now I know that you are a man of God and the word of the Lord from your mouth is the truth”. vs 24

“He restores my soul. He leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake “. Psalms 23:3.    God is one who always restores the humanity and bring them back to vigor and vitality. The path in which He leads His faithful are the roadmaps of their lives that ultimately leads to righteousness and fulness of life. We see the risen Christ restoring the disciples who had lost hope, became desperate, stayed in locked rooms for few days fearing the Jews and the Romans and finally deciding to go back to their old profession. The ancient Israelites thrived in the land of Egypt despite harsh conditions. The king and the slave drivers of Egypt forced them to do hard work and made their life miserable. But God was always with them, delivered them, allowed them to go through the parted red sea, the difficult desert journey and finally allowed them to reach the promised land. God who preserved, restored, gave confidence and yielded protection to them is upholding us today also. He is with us in our ups and downs and in all our environments. He answers when we reach out to Him. we may be worrying about the COVID, the racial violence, the refugee crisis and other personal issues. But the Bible assures us that the God who cares so wonderfully the wildflowers of the field can provide our needs and can sustain us much better. He is the author of life and death. He is the alpha and the Omega. He breathed life into His creation, and He takes back when He wishes. Let us put our trust in Him to lead a victorious life.

Here in this portion Elijah’s actions are a demonstration of God to provide for His people and overcome the disastrous effect of sin and death. We see in this chapter Elijah multiplying a small amount of flour and oil enough for the widow and her son to make a living without starving. We also see God working through Elijah to bring back the widow’s son back to life from death. The power of God over Satan, sin and death is well demonstrated by Christ’s victorious resurrection from the grave, He defeated the sting of death and gives hope and comfort to all those who place faith in Him. Jesus is restoring us who are dead in sin to a new life now and for evermore. What is needed from our part is to believe in Him, trust Him, obey Him and declare with our mouth that He is our Lord and Saviour. Amen.

PRAYER

Lord God  thank You for being the author and perfecter of our faith. You are our redeemer and sustainer. You are the one who restores us when we are unstable and stand on slippery ground. Increase our faith Lord and make us powerful witnesses of You in this world.
