Colossians 4:2-6
v6 Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.
The apostle Paul closes the book of Colossians with an appeal to continue in prayer and thanksgiving. Paul lays down three important principles for spreading and sharing the gospel.
a. We should talk to God for his providence and blessing or order that different avenues will be opened in continuing His ministry.
b. Paul explicitly wanted to make it clear that he is in chains, just because of his commitment to talk about the mystery of the gospel. Scripture is clear that all are born spiritually lost, poor and without hope; but through Christ we have been given new life.
c. Live with wisdom in the world. To live with wisdom means knowing how to live in this world, that is consistent with who we are in Christ. The world is watching our lives, and it should be a testimony which reflects our salvation experience. We should learn to speak to people with grace and and love , seasoned with a readiness. One should know how to talk to
a non believer with a clear sense of apologetics. We, who have experienced redemption should be prepared to tell others the salvation we found only in Jesus Christ. This information should only be passed to someone without opposing his beliefs, but accepting him as fellow being who may need salvation. Paul is exhorting the Colossian believers to keep in view of the heresies that existed there and to answer the heretics. The believer must learn how to bear witness to the true gospel of Christ.
Prayer: Dear Jesus, Teach us to pray incessantly with thanksgiving for your continued blessing to continue gospel ministry among multi religious community around us.
Thought for the day: How to defend Christian faith to the world around us with grace and love?
