Sanctification of the Church: Learning and nurturing of Faith and Practice

World Sunday School Day
Proverbs 23:15-26
v19 Hear, my child, and be wise, and direct your mind in the way.

Sanctification is the state of growing in divine grace as a result of the work of the Holy Spirit and God’s intervention in an individual or a group of people. They are set apart for a calling from above to lead a  noble  Godly life worthy of God’s acceptance and standards. A follower of Christ gets sanctified through believing and obeying the word of God. When we learn the word of God and come to know Christ we become more humble and will be ready to be broken for others. Once we are broken for the purpose of Christ our eternity becomes more secure with God and that shall be the life one shall aim to attain. Daily bible reading, meditation and spending time in prayer is therefore essential for any Christian. The scripture points out our sin, encourages us to repent and confess and lead a renewed life in Christ. In order to get sanctified our only resource is the word of God that is living, active and sharper than a double edge  sword. It can penetrate to the core of our moral and spiritual life. It discerns what is goof and what is evil.
The passage for our meditation today is from Proverbs. The first Sunday in November is usually celebrated worldwide as World Sunday School day. Robert Raikes was the pioneer of the  Sunday School Movement in England. Children who were on the streets on Sundays  were brought together in a class room to teach the word of God  and this initiated the Sunday School movement. Our Sunday schools, church worships, fellowship meetings and study sessions shall all form the classrooms where faith is instilled, nurtured and enable one to practice in life. Of course, parents and our homes do play a vital role in the faith and character formation of an individual. The faith practices of the parents will have a major influence in the moulding of faith of an individual. Solomon’s book of Proverbs covers a lot of topics for children concerning their discipline, self-control, temptation resistance, seeking morality, truth and wisdom. Knowing The almighty God is the key to wisdom that is a God given gift. Children shall be seekers of truth, obedient to parents and elders and be zealous for the fear of the Lord.
Like the wise man who built the house on the rock our foundation shall be on Jesus who is our rock and hope. Always seek wisdom from above and if one lacks it one can earnestly pray to God to grant it. Jesus stressed on obeying the truth and not just knowing it. Knowing about Christ and to know Him personally are different. Let our goals be to know Him personally and accept Him as our savior and Lord. Let us lead a life that is separated for Christ and keep our lives pure without any stain of sin and sanctified.

PRAYER
Lord help us to know, learn, obey and follow you every day of our life. You have called us to be HOLY. Let us lead a life that is holy, praising you, witnessing you and thus worthy of your creation. Amen.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Make our deeds and thoughts be the Bible that others see and read.
