 Education for liberation

Proverbs 4:1-9
v6 - "Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you;love her, and she will watch over you."
 

Education is defined in multiple ways. Some dictionaries define it as an enlightening experience, some simply as knowledge or scholarship. It is also defined as the process of receiving or giving systematic instruction, especially at a school or a university.Education gives us a knowledge of the world around us and develops in us a perspective of looking at life. It helps us build opinions and have points of view on things in life.The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically and free the mind from the social and political constraints instead of numbing it. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education.
 
The Bible teaches us that having knowledge simply isn’t enough. Knowledge is knowing facts about things. But Wisdom is from God alone. Wisdom has three aspects: knowledge about God’s Truth, understanding God’s Truth, and How to Apply God’s Truth. 
Proverbs 9:10 says, "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom." Wisdom begins when you understand how powerful ,mighty and holy God is and believe in His Son Jesus which is His way of reconciling the fallen generation towards Himself. 
 
Proverbs 4:1-9 talks about a father(King Solomon) who is trying to train his child to acquire and love wisdom and to never forsake it  .
King Solomon may have written Proverbs to help his own son Rehoboam who would be king soon, to grow in wisdom. But King Rehoboam didn’t turn out to be very wise. In fact, he lived a foolish life. Neither was his son Abijah. When we read the book of Kings we see that there were a lot of foolish sons and a handful of wise sons but all of them were foolish in some way. They all fell short. But then one day, a son in this family line was born who didnt fall short. His name is King Jesus. 
Apostle Paul identifies the creation–wisdom of Proverbs 8 with the wisdom of Jesus in Colossians 1.
Proverbs 8:22-23
22 “The Lord brought me (wisdom) forth as the first of his works,
       before his deeds of old;
23 I was formed long ages ago,
       at the very beginning, when the world came to be. 
 
Paul writes in Colossians 1 how Jesus was also there at the beginning of creation. Colossians 1:15 says "The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation." In Colossians 2:3 Paul also notes that Christ is the one "in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge."  In short to know Jesus is to know wisdom. 
 
Albert Einstein once said, “Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think.”
As apostle Paul said in his letter to the Phillipians 4: 8 - "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable,if anything is excellent or praiseworthy think about such things ", let us train our minds to think and focus about the true wisdom of God which is Christ Jesus , who can liberate us from all sin .

Father God , enable us to live our lives here on earth in awe and fear of you .
