Christian Witnessing among people of other faith

Acts 2:1-4

V2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.

Many Christians believe  that if  they go to church every sunday, read the Bible occasionally, pray their prayers when in necessity and go to some fellowship meetings if time permits they feel they are alright with God. Once in a while they opt to be a committee member, a youth fellowship member, a Sunday School teacher or a volunteer at some church function. They consider this an above normal christian life. God wants us lead not an adequate life by our standards but God wants us to meet His standards. Do we trust him completely, seek his wisdom ,strength and courage and love him as well as our neighbours as he wants us to do?

We are the Bible many people of other faiths read everyday. To live a christian life means to allow Jesus to dwell in us and reflect and radiate his image to the society we belong. We need a life that is filled with Holy spirit.Once we have the guidance of the indwelling spirit of  Jesus in us  we will naturally be witnessing Christ before people of other faiths.

Here in this passage for our meditation this morning, we see the manifestation of the Holy Spirit in the apostles. They were gathered together in one place. It was the day of Pentecost and the Spirit of God descended on the apostles and believers and the Jewish crowd was astonished. There were people of different nationalities and they all understood what the apostles were preaching. They were talking in tongues. The disciples proclaimed the mighty work of God as well as His holy presence there. Holy spirit that existed already in the world, with  this incident, heralded  the beginning of a new covenant age. Jesus has told us He is entrusting us to the Holy spirit till He returns. He has also given  a commission to his disciples as we see in Mathew 28: 20  to go out into the world - the world of people of different faiths, be a witness of Him and  talk about the grace that is free to all who believe in Him. He is giving all of us the divine authority to do that.

Let us  resolve today to share this saving grace  and joy of salvation that we experienced to at least one person. There are many groping in the dark around us looking for a safe abode. Time is running out and His coming is very imminent.

PRAYER

Lord fill us with your spirit and strengthen us. Make us the carriers of love, peace and joy in our society.
