Holy Ordination-Priest:Called for a Divine Ministry
1 Timothy 6:6-16

v10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
“Today has just been…”, this is the start of most of my sentences as of late. I’m sure that for many of you, it probably feels the same way. The anxiety has been getting to us in the midst of these crises and economic fluctuations, it becomes harder and harder to feel secure about our future. Growing up we have been told to always to what is good for our future. In the Indian community a lot of that focus was on making sure we found a job that made us financially secure. It was at this point a lot of us have equated the amount of money we have to our level of security. Sometimes it feels like every decision was motivated in one way or the other by money. It is at this point that we forget, security and comfort doesn’t come from the amount of money we have or our material possessions, instead it comes from the faith, hope, and love that we have in our Father.
Our topic today is Holy Ordination and how to become a person for God. Its not just limited to our priests or bishops but we are given this opportunity as well. In other words, in our mission to spread God’s love, being called to his divine ministry, how do we make Christ our center? As I mentioned earlier, many of us, myself included, have been conditioned to equate the amount of money we make/own to the level of security we have in life. We come to a point where we make money our center and it becomes our idol/motivation. In Paul’s letter to Timothy he says “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.” Making money is not evil, but allowing money to become our god is. Sometimes we need to remind ourselves that we will go through difficult times, there will be ups and downs. But during all this, God is always standing by our side to see us through all we need to do is stretch out our hands and let him become our center. It is these experiences that help us grow stronger in faith and reliance on God. When we share these testimonies, we can show others God’s love and strength, we can become their first step to faith.
Its not easy making Christ our center, but it’s through this journey of introspection and discovery that we realize all we ever needed was God and he will see us through. This year will be a year we all remember, one where we saw true evils and dangers, we didn’t think were possible. But in the midst of all that we see stories of God’s love and mercy, humanity coming together to love and support one another. God has called each and every one of us to His divine ministry of spreading His love and understanding. In order to do that we need to make God our center and realize once we do, everything will be okay, He will see us through and we will be stronger for it.
PRAYER
Lord help us realize that we don’t walk this path alone but you are carrying us and holding us. Lead on this journey of healing and wholeness so we may become closer to you. Amen
