Holy Spirit, Renew the Creation
Romans 8: 19-23
v21 - "...the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God."
Jesus said “I tell you the truth: It is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you”. He is spoken of as “He”, not as "it". We need to understand the Holy Spirit is a unique person and not simply a power or an influence. Spirit of God, the third person of the Trinity is personal. As a person he may be grieved (Eph. 4:30). When we read the upper room disclosure, we discover that it was both the Father and the Son who would send the Spirit. So, the activity of the Holy Spirit is never given to us in the Scripture in isolation from the person and work of Jesus Christ or in isolation from the will of the Father.
Holy Spirit is the author of the new creation. We find this in John 3, in the classic encounter between Jesus and Nicodemus where Jesus said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.”
As the world is facing tough economic and health uncertainty, we have the Holy Spirit, the Helper, to stand with us exactly like Jesus in our daily life. He informs us the future (John 16:13), He empowers us, helps the believer in his weakness, renews us daily, renews the face of the earth and renews everything. He reminds us every day what Christ has told us, glorifies Christ, gives us new birth and leads us to truth. He helps a fainting person to stand strong on his own legs and gives hope to each believer. The vision of Ezekiel reveals renewal given to a society which is broken in all respects and he is prophesying to Israel “I will put my Spirit in you, and you will live”.  Many societies which suffered depression were restored.
For God who renews the whole world nothing is impossible. Renewing the Church is the work of the Holy Spirit. Let this be our daily prayer, “Come Holy Spirit, Deliver us from Sin and Renew Us”.
PRAYER
Gracious God, the giver of Holy Spirit and the source of all renewal, strengthen us with Your Spirit so that we will repent and come back to You.
 THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
“The Holy Spirit illuminates the minds of people, makes us yearn for God, and takes spiritual truth and makes it understandable to us.” – Billy Graham
