Trinity Sunday: We believe in the Holy Trinity
 St. Matthew 3:16-17

V16-17:  And when Jesus had been baptized, just as he came up from the water, suddenly the heavens were opened to him and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, the Beloved, with whom I am well pleased.”

The Mar Thoma Church being an Eastern Oriental Church upholds the emphasis of Holy Mysteries.  It is seen evident in our worship and a great part of our theology.  When we look in our sacraments, we can see through the outward spiritual signs it guides us to know an inward spiritual grace.  This passage follows the baptism of Jesus and He came up out of the water.  The Holy Spirit descended like a dove on Jesus.  The Father’s voice is heard of how proud He is of Jesus as His only begotten Son.  It is here where the doctrine of the Church, the Holy Trinity, is seen well.  All three persons of the Trinity is seen here.  God the Father speaks, God the Son is baptized, and God the Holy Spirit descends on Jesus.  Right here is a great picture of God’s incomprehensible mystery.

As we look more into the Holy Mysteries, we must also understand our lives with human limitations. Especially in the ways that some may claim that they know God.  We cannot fully comprehend who God is because He is beyond our comprehension.  We are only able to grow in faith daily.  Faith is a growing aspect of life that will not be fully completed on this earth.  We should do our part and sharpen ourselves daily to continue to know God in a personal level.  This is where we should ask ourselves how much time we give to God to know and trust Him personally.

We can also see the harmony in the relationship of the Holy Trinity. The oneness and love that is emphasized in this divine relationship.  Being children of God, it calls for us to also know the harmony of the Godhead to guide our lives as harmonious in this world with one another.  God is one and there is perfection in that relationship.  Although we may have imperfections in our lives, we should strive towards harmony in this earth with one another by being guided by the relationship of the Trinity in our personal lives, and that should enable us to also be advocates of love, peace and harmony.

PRAYER
O Triune God, guide us to worship You fully in spirit and in truth, acknowledging You as One God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Lord teach us and guide us Your unconditional love so that we can love Your creation.  Amen
.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
“One must love God first, and only then can one love one's closest of kin and neighbors. We must not be idols to one another, for such is not the will of God.”- Elder Thaddeus of Vitovnica
