Trinity Sunday: We Believe in the Holy Trinity
Psalms 98
V 1 “Sing to the Lord a new song, for He has done marvelous things; His right hand and His holy arm have worked salvation for Him”.
Psalms 98 exhorts us to “Sing to the Lord a new song”. There are multiple instances throughout Psalms where we see the concept of “new song” (Psalms 33:3, 40:3, 96:1, 144:9 and 149:1). New is and always will be significant! Have you noticed the immense joy you feel when you see the face of a “new” born baby, the innocence and purity they bring to this world? Have you watched the beaming “new” moon and its beauty and praised God for his beautiful creation? Why does the Psalmist call people to sing a “new song”? The reason is God’s deliverance. This Psalm is a song of God’s redeeming grace; though it is not specific to a particular occasion or event it is to praise the great works of God and the deliverance of the people of Israel.

Though this psalm reflects God’s deliverance of the Israelites, it is prophetically also referring to our salvation which can only be found through Jesus Christ our Lord. The famous Christmas Carol “Joy to the world” written by Isaac Watts reflects the Psalmist word. The scripture constantly reminds us about God’s love and faithfulness.

God our Father’s love for mankind was so deep that He sent His only son to die on the cross for the atonement of our sins. Jesus Christ our Lord, submitted to Father’s holy will, when He suffered and died on the cross to save us. As a result of Christ’s sacrificial death, our destiny is no longer death but rather eternal life. The one who was sinless took all our sins, so we might be righteous with God. What an amazing display of love!! Are we loyal and faithful to God? Faithfulness requires submitting our ways to God, and having a personal relationship with Him.

Our wait for our Savior is not in vain. Christ’s resurrection assures us that we shall see God’s salvation. Psalms 98 reminds us that our Savior is coming, and when He comes He will rule as a judge to the entire world. As we see in the lyrics of “Joy to the world” He will rule the world with truth and grace and the nations will prove the glories of His righteousness and wonders of His love. Let us sing a new song to our Lord!
 PRAYER
Father, we thank you for your love and your faithfulness towards us. We pray that we are able to praise you joyfully each day with a new song for all the marvelous things you bless us with. Amen
