We believe in the Holy Trinity
Job 38:1-11
Vs 4 “Where” were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding”.
Judaism, Christianity and Islam are the three monotheistic religions in the world. Out of these, Christianity is unique because we believe in a Triune God. This doesn’t mean that three in one God but one God in three manifestations, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Holy Father, the Creator God, loving Son, the Immanuel God, and the Holy Spirit, the Comforter. They are one in essence and are in perfect unity. As Marthomites, we proclaim this faith every Sunday in the Nicene Creed.
Even though the word “Trinity” is not mentioned in the Bible it is evident from the first chapter of Genesis. God created the heavens and the earth and the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. God spoke and by His Word He created everything. This WORD became flesh and lived among us in Christ Jesus, the beloved Son. Trinity is the epitome of unity and oneness. Jesus in His High Priestly prayer, recorded in John’s Gospel chapter 17, asked the Father regarding the disciples “That they may be one as we are”. Trinity can’t be defined but is to be believed.
In the portion for our today’s meditation God is asking Job about his understanding of God. God Himself testified about Job in chapter 1:8 as a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil. Bible scholars believe that Job is a contemporary of Abraham. Even before Jesus was born, Job had a vague concept of this Triune God. That may be reason for Job’s proclamation ,  “ For I know that my redeemer lives, and He shall stand at last on the earth; and my skin is destroyed, this I know, that in my flesh I shall see God.” (Job 19:25-26).
As we are celebrating the feast of Pentecost let us submit ourselves to the Holy Spirit who convicts us about sin and righteousness and judgment.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, Open our spiritual eyes to see the wonderful things in Your Word and enlighten our hearts and minds to know you better. Amen.
