Mission as sharing Christ
1 John 5:1-12

v5 Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.
Trying to remain calm and not let frustration and anxiety take over during a global pandemic might be the most difficult thing some of us have to do. There have been times where I’ve felt that this situation is so beyond control that I’ve questioned where God has been in the midst of what is happening around us.

1 John 5:4-5 reminds me that the key is faith. I know that’s an idea that we’ve heard so many times that we’re almost numb to what it means. John puts so simply by saying that the only way to overcome such unpredictable and daunting circumstances is to consistently abide in faith and continue to be resilient in trusting God. We are able to overcome this pandemic not because of what we’ve done or how we’ve been able to adapt to these changes. Instead, because we believe that God’s plan is greater than what we can see is happening. This means trusting that God knows what he’s doing and that he’s going to use this situation for his good. If God can send his Son into the world so we can have a better relationship with Him, he will deliver us from this pandemic.  John’s message is simply an invitation for us to believe. Even if we have been believing for years and years, this passage is relevant now more than ever in encouraging us to continue to seek God and truly believe he is in control.

PRAYER
Father, I thank you for the ways that you have been working and the ways you will continue to work. I submit my feelings of anxiety and frustration to you. I am sorry for the ways that I’ve doubted that you’re here in the middle of this pandemic. God I thank you for the reminder that you are in control and that your plans are far better than anything.  Amen.
