JESUS CHRIST THE WAY TRUTH AND LIFE
Acts 16:19-34
Vs 31 “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved, You and your household.”
Jesus revealed to his disciple John in the island of Patmos that He is the alpha and Omega, who is and who was and who is to come the Almighty. This is another proclamation of our Lord showing his deity. He says in John 35 “I am the bread of Life. He who comes to me will never be hungry. Jesus told the Samaritan woman “whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life”. He is the beginning of all history. He is the creator and the goal for whom all things are made. All the people, the history, his creations that are wise are moving toward glorifying him. He is our hope, our redeemer and comforter. He is the corner stone that is rejected by the builders. Peter emphatically says there is salvation in no one else or in any other name other than Jesus Christ. Peter and John have firsthand experience and witnessed themselves when in His name they cured the lame man at the temple gate. He also states that Jesus’s powerful and exclusive name brings eternal salvation to all mankind.
Mathew 11:27 says “All things have been handed over to me by my father and no one knows the son except the father, and no one knows the father except the son and anyone to whom the son chooses to reveal him. This reveals the profound divine self-consciousness of Jesus as well as the supreme authority of the father within the Trinity by which he has delegated authority over all things to the son.
In the portion for our today’s meditation we see the Philippian jailer being converted by Paul and Silas. Paul and Silas made the prison cell to a worship place singing hymns and praying. We see here the assurance of a glorious deliverance. Our afflictions in this world whether small or big are all transient or momentary. Paul and Silas knew that they were there not by accident or chance but was well planned and under the wise control of their eternal father. Job told like this “He knoweth the way I take “.Our sovereign God who parted the red sea, who closed the mouth of the lions in the den, who came as the fourth person in the fire ball ,who fed Elijah with the raven is still alive and standing next to us listening and knocking for an entrance. He is the truth the way and the Life. There is no other name under heaven to be exalted and praised.
Dear friends are we ready to let him in. Are we ready to accept him as our savior and Lord? Accept him and confess with our mouth that He is Lord and we will be blessed and saved. The darkest moments and most repulsive associations in our life will turn out to be glorified and idealized by the spirit of the living God. The prison becomes a chapel, a school of repentance and faith, a home of love and kindness and a place of birth and new life.
