Jesus Christ: The Way, The Truth, and Life
Exodus 14:10-20

Vs 14 “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

Often times, we forget how powerful and steadfast our God truly is. Since we believe we serve a God that is unwavering, we also should stand unwavering in our faith. American author Joyce Meyer has said “Serving God doesn’t mean we’ll no longer have difficulties. We’re still on the battlefield, but we don’t have to fight alone.” In times of struggle, such as the pandemic the world is in now, we try to adapt and figure out how to navigate through these hard times on our own. But as the Bible tells us, we’re never alone because we have a friend in Jesus who will support us. In Mathew 21:21, after Jesus made the fig tree wither, he said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’  and it will be done.” Here, we can see Jesus is explaining how miraculous things can happen when we ask God for something and truly believe in our hearts it can be done. Ken Sande reminds us “Trusting God does not mean believing he will do what you want, but rather believing he will do everything he knows is good.” Though we should pray to God to alleviate our fears and worries, our duty as Christians is to trust that God knows what’s best for us and that His plan is solely for our good.
In today’s passage from Exodus 14:10-20, we read about Moses and the Israelites fleeing from the Egyptians and Pharaoh. The Israelites feared for their lives. They began to doubt and complain to Moses for bringing them out of Egypt. However, Moses reassured them in verse 13, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again.” The Lord told Moses to tell the Israelites to move on. God instructed Moses to raise his staff and stretch out his hand over the sea to divide the water so the Israelites could cross through safely. At the end of the passage, we can see that an angel of God came between the armies of Egypt and Israel as a pillar of cloud and protected them. In the same way, when we lay our fears and doubt at the feet of Jesus, He will reward our faithfulness by protecting and rescuing us.

PRAYER
Father God, give us the strength to always remain faithful to you. Help us to remember your power and protect us in our times of fear and doubt. Amen.
