Cleansing Christ
Psalms 130
Vs 2 “Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy"
This is a penitential psalm of David crying out for God’s mercy. There are seven penitential psalms written by David. David was asking for God’s help and favor, but he often found himself surrounded by the enemies. David is expressing his deep remorse over the sin he has committed and is waiting for God’s grace to get him out of the deep pit he is immersed in. Penitence is introspection of oneself and realizing the gravity of sin one has committed and seeing that there is no other escape other than looking un to the creator and pleading for mercy. The Bible illustrates many of the heroes who have ultimately failed in their accountability to God even though they were very obedient and acted according to God’s commandments. Noah, Moses and David are good examples where by they do not meet the Almighty Lord’s standards.
But God realizes our frailty and He has a solution which is Grace. Forgiveness of sin is free when we approach Him with a contrite heart and ask for it. Sin makes one dirty, polluted and the best cleaning agent of the world cannot clean it. 1 John 1:7 says “if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus his son cleanses us from all sin”.
God can transform our failures to triumph, our sorrows to happiness. Colossians 2:14 says He has cancelled our debts and nailed them to the cross and we are free now. We are not worthy to come to His throne of Grace but today let us pray like the publican in Luke 18:14 “Lord, I am a sinner. I cannot even lift my eyes to look unto you.” From the drowning depths of sin, like David, let us cry out this lent season to our Lord, “We are willing, Lord. Cleanse us and have mercy upon us.” He is ready to forgive  and accept us as we are  and allow us to lead a victorious life.

PRAYER
Lord I have sinned against you. Forgive me. Come unto my heart, cleanse me and make me your child from today, Amen.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and purify us all from all unrighteousness.
