Temperance - Honoring the body as a temple of God
Ecclesiastes 6:1-12
Vs 12 -  For who knows what is good for a person in life, during the few and meaningless days they pass through like a shadow? Who can tell them what will happen under the sun after they are gone?
Whitney Houston the most awarded female artist of all times by Guinness World Records, who earned two Emmys, six Grammys, and 30 billboard music awards by 2010, died tragically the night before the 2012 Grammy awards. Autopsy of her body showed that sided from drowning, heart disease and cocaine abuse. Addiction affects everyone. Many have abused their bodies and committed suicide by drug and alcohol overdose. Drugs have claimed the lives of many, and addicts make all the money to feed their addiction.

We are the temple of God and God created us for a purpose. God does not want us to abuse our body for our own transient bodily pleasures. Life not centered on God is purposeless and meaningless. It is always late   when we realize that most of our life’s achievements are worth nothing when we exclude from our efforts and proceed with wrong motives. We live in a world where they advocate different theories and principles of one’s life. There is one teaching that in spite of life’s apparent enigmas and meaninglessness, it is to be enjoyed as a gift from God. Hedonism teaches us to be merry and suggest pleasure the ultimate goal of life. Scripture says

King Jehoiakim son of King Josiah had a life different from his father and his ancestor David. He went against the will of God and ended his life in a total disaster. He did not even get a proper burial, and no one lamented at his death. Let us resolve in this new year to modify our lives if we are steering in the wrong direction and turn back and start our year looking unto Jesus.

PRAYER
Lord, we are your creation. Allow us to lead a life worthy of your call and will, Amen.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Jesus is our author and finisher of our faith; keep our body and soul clean so that he can dwell in us.
