Do Good
Galatians 6:6-10
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers (Gal 6:10).

In this passage, Paul exhorts to do good to all people. Because goodness is the essence of Jesus Christ and that should be the face of his followers too. He further reminds them to be vigilant in doing good. The salvific plan of God encompasses the 'other'. The 'way of Christ' was the 'way of the periphery' which include the last, the least and the lost. It was a life for the voiceless, exploited and marginalized. Hence our calling is to walk in the way of Christ.
It is in the midst of the current materialistic and culturally sophisticated situations, the forces of the world entangle us to pursue instant gratification which hinder us from doing good. The 'culture of self' is glorified and intense competition and selfishness mark the present time. Craving for positions, possessions and pleasures make the life more miserable and pathetic. The apostle Paul reminds that our calling is not to be 'situational Christians' rather the persons of the kingdom of God who uphold the values of Christ as the core of his/her life. A Christian is in a hidden battlefield where an inner conflict is going on between the flesh and the spirit or virtue and vice. In this alarming situation, the writer alerts us not to be deceived by the forces of the world. In order to resist the desires of the flesh, the writer advise us to walk by the guidance of the spirit. (5:16) It is the power of the spirit that helps us to conquer the forces of evil and flesh. The power of Christ is the power of the spirit. The power of Christ always give priority to the weak and the distressed. If we are disappointed, cling on to the power of Christ which will strengthen us to stand against the forces that entangle us personally and collectively. "It is the beauty that captures your attention; personality which captures your heart." May the person of Christ and his values motivate us to lead an 'other-centered life style'.
PRAYER
Help us 0 Lord, to do our best to others for the glory of your name Amen.
